Start by learning the business and the way things work with the credit bureaus. You can get business by referrals such as family, friends, car dealerships, mortgage professionals etc. Don’t expect business to fall on your lap! GO GET IT!

When you finish your Master’s Degree in Accounting, take the CPA exam. Work in a CPA firm for two years so you can get your certification, then go to law school. After law school, take and pass the bar exam.

When you are a CPA and licensed attorney, then you will have the required resources to begin a credit repair business.

Is it legal to discuss credit reports over the phone?

I work for a real estate rental company. Potential tenants must submit an application and they are informed that we will pull their credit.

The manager pulls their credit report and makes the decision whether the person is approved to rent from the company. When we talk to the applicants on the phone about their application, we are instructed by the company to only tell them if they are approved or denied. We can say they are denied due to the credit report, but we are not allowed to discuss specifics of the credit report. We are told that this is due to "privacy laws."

Some people get really angry when I won’t tell them specifically what was wrong with their credit. (Usually they have really horrible credit, not just one or two dings, so it’s kinda silly they are acting surprised about it.)

Today a guy got really mad and said it was BS that I couldn’t discuss the specifics of his credit report, even though I explained that he could go to Experian and pull the same report to see what we saw (and he would see plenty of bad stuff.)

I can’t find anything online that would relate to my specific situation.

Does anyone have any information or resources that I could cite to these kinds of customers as to why I can’t disclose details of their own credit report over the phone?

Save yourself the aggravation and just tell them that you don’t see the report, and because of privacy laws the specifics are not discussed with you. I believe they can request in writing a detailed reason as to why they were turned down.

Credit card companies know how to stop a terrorist attack but Obama doesn’t?

How can VISA notice a suspicious charge to my account, freeze my card, call me up to let me know about it, and then mail me a brand new credit card within 3 business days…….yet the Obama administration and the entire US government (with trillions of dollars in unlimitted resources) can’t figure out how to keep a suspected terrorist who’s father warned officials of his sons intentions weeks ago, from boarding a plane with explosives and no passport?

I’m reading through all of the ridiculous answers to this question, and for the life of me I can’t figure out what GEORGE W BUSH has to do with Obama’s failure to prevent a known terrorist from boarding a plane with explosives and no passport. They might as well being saying "If Bush could screw up national security, it should be okay for Obama to screw it up too."

The bottom line is that if credit card companies and other private sectore organizations can pick up fraud on a credit card account then SURELY our government with all of it’s resources can figure out how to keep known terrorists off of airplanes with explosives! How you ask? SIMPLE! Put them on a now fly list and DO NOT LET THEM ENTER THE UNITED STATES! Better yet, when they try to board a plane why not have them arrested on the spot? Or are the rights of islamic terrorist suspects more importan than the safey of 200+ Americans trying to fly home for Christmas?

Good point. I think you nailed it. The private industry has and will continue to do things better, cheaper, and more efficiently than the government.

If you have been contacted and told you were approved for a loan be very careful. Again I was called by this company just like I was contcted by Bramlea Finace, (now known as Brimmley Financial). I was contacted by Martha Greenwood. I was told I was approved for a $7000 loan. I asked her If I had to send any money up front, and she told me NO! I was then placed on hold and she never returned. She called me back, and I asked he how she got my number and she told me I applied for a loan through her company and I told her no, I did not. This time she hung up on me. I called back and asked to speak with her again and was told to hold on. I was then transferred to voice mail. I left a message to call me back. So far no call back.

No and sounds like a scam or identity theft which can be reported to the FTC or to the attorney general of your state.

Credit cards can have high interests so it shouldn’t be difficult to beat them, other debts might be more difficult to deal with as they might already have a low interest rate.

They might or they might not have you on. It depends on many factors and how much the debt is.
