Is there really such thing as a "free" credit repair services or they are just scam?

I have browsed on several credit fix online. Some are offering free service. What specifically is the chance that these companies are worth my trust?

Sure, you can sign up with them for free. What they’re going to do is call all your creditors, "talk them down" to a lower price for the money you owe, add it all up, present you with a payment plan and take a fee.

Either that or they outright buy your depts from the credit card companies. That way, they make the interest while you make the payment you set up with them. CHA-CHING. They can offer you "free" service, because they are getting interest…and they decide exactly how much that will be.

It’s legal and it works. If you make the payments. If not, you’ll be looking at those interest charges. They can also charge you fees, just depending on the contract you sign.

It also "dings" your credit. Not as badly as a bankruptcy, but close.

The thing is, you can do it yourself.
Call your creditors. Ask for a settlement or any discount. Tell them how much you can pay each month. THEN PAY IT. With the economy circling the drain, they’re grateful to get any money, as long it’s a reasonable request.

No credit ding. No middle man.

Union workers credit services credit card?

I received a letter saying that I’m pre-approved for a union workers credit services credit card with a credit limit of $10,000 with an interest rate of 5%. I just have to a $37 fully refundable fee.
Is this a real bank?? It sounds too good to be true

It’s a scam….stay away.

Do I have to pay a creditor if I have an account with Ovation credit services?

the account is considered a fall off and I owe money to the creditor. Under Ovation credit report it is in fall off. Do I call the creditor and make payments again? Does Ovation have power of attorney and I do not have to make payments becaue it is in fall off?

Ovation is ripping you off, and yes you still owe it. Duh.

Merchant services: Is there an easier way to accept credit cards than the underwriting process?

I am looking at opening a financial billing company and need the ability to take credit cards over the phone, but my credit is not good enough to secure it without a co signer. I have no one to co sign for me. Is there a merchant services company that is lenient on giving credit card services? Im just trying to run an honest and legit company.

PayPal is the easiest way to accept payments without opening up a merchant account.
They have a $30/month virtual terminal program for processing credit cards.

Make sure you understand what charge backs are. It’s easy to be ripped off by total strangers when selling via PayPay if you don’t know what you’re doing.

Is Union Workers Credit Services a scam?

I received a letter in the mail for a pre approved credit card from Union Workers Credit Services, with a credit limit of $10,000.00. Is this a scam?

Here is their number, note it is not 800.
They give you credit (maybe) but first you pay them $37. The credit is good only from items you buy from them. The website does not show prices for their items so who knows what you will be paying.
All that said if you would like to send me $37 I might give you the credit to purchase my new $300 5 megapixel camera or a beautiful Mr. Coffee for only $400. from me.

I got this letter by mail saying ive been Pre-Approved for an exclusive platinum card membership.
It says its a limited time offer and it ends on 8-17-11.
All i have to do is pay a fee which is $37.
It also says the credit limit it has is $10,000.
I mean to me it sounds too good to be true.

Ive never heard or applied of this company before.
Im in California if it matters.

This is not a *true* credit card although, they want to make you believe it is with the words "Platinum card" since most legit Visa/MC cards call their cards this.

This is basically a card that can be used with their catalog ONLY. That means, you are not going to be building any credit since they do not report your activity, you would probably be saddled with a close to 30% or more interest rate, and their items are definately going to be overpriced.

To add insult to injury, they CHARGE you $37 to just apply for the card? LOL

Pass this one up.

Do a Google search, I found many articles bemoaning this card/company.

I want to know if this company is legitimate and if so how can a company offer 5% interest rates? I have never heard of this company. I received a letter stating I was pre approved for 10,000.00. I want to know how this is possible in today’s economy.

Anyway. Call the bank and ask.
Sometimes an account can be closed if you don’t use it for years.

There are no FREE sites that will give you your TRUE FICO score. You have to pay for that. There are sites like creditkarma and quizzle that will *guesstimate* your score, but, that isn’t what your score truly is, and could be off by 50 or more points. Your FICO score costs under $20 and can be obtained at http://www.myfico.com.

You really need to know more than what your score is though, if you are wanting to get your credit up to par to get a loan. For that, you can get an annual credit report for free at http://www.annualcreditreport.com.
