While I don't know Canadian law, my guess it is pretty similar to US in that the estate is responsible for the debts. Assets must be used to pay off the debts before being distributed to heirs. If there are not enough assets to cover the debts, the heirs do not inherit the debt.
References :
BD

There are some ways to go about this. The first one is through pay-pal or a like company. These types of companies are good only if you are a small company, usually from home and if you are doing under a $1000.00 a month. The 2nd options is opening a merchant account. A merchant services account is just an open line of credit, just like a loan.
I say check the ones that do not charge you a fee for taking accepting them from your customers. I have heard that some places refuse certain credit cards because they charge the business fees in order to process them...check the ones I have listed below...
Discover
Visa
Mastercard
I heard American Express is one that charges fees...I do not carry that card.
References :
Retired Shopaholic

In the middle of reviewing your credit report, you notice at the very end a section labeled "Credit Inquiries" or "Regular Inquiries".
These inquiries were made by companies who received or "pulled" your credit report and these inquiries will remain on your credit report for two years. You may not recognize their names and you have no idea why they pulled your credit.
Many people tend to over focus on removing inquiries when their reports are full of lates pays, collection accounts or even a bankruptcy.
In these cases, you might want to hold off on your efforts to remove inquires until after you have successfully removed some of the bigger problems on your credit report.
But, if you are tackling your other credit issues, it doesn't hurt to tackle this problem, too.
References :
&

Your inquiries will remain on your file for 24 months. The bureau is unlikely to delete them, as these represent an accurate portrayal of your behavior.

When you inquire for a credit card the bank pulled a report from one bureau. Every bank has different underwriting criteria as to which bureau report they pull by geography. Each inquiry probably appeared on only one bureau report. You probably don't have 20 inquiries on all three - they are dispersed across all three. Look at all three reports to see which report has the fewest and oldest inquiries and which bank(s) inquired using that bureau.

Re-apply to that bank after verifying your score at myfico.com, asking the bank what their score threshold is, and seeing that your score exceeds that threshold. Your inquiries will lower your score, but as they age your score will improve, and when they fall off your report your score will improve further.
References :
There are several credit repair companies offering free service these days. However, seldom can you find one that's surely legit and offer a genuine help. So, you really have to be careful.
References :
These companies are scams.
There is nothing they can do for you that you can't do yourself.

Get a book for about $15 from your bookstore on Credit Repair.
Or ask here how to negotiate settlements (and if you should).
People will help.
No need to pay any company to rip you off by doing simple stuff.
Some only dispute the items, which come back verified after 30 days if they are yours.
^ waste of time and money.
