only thing that's getting accurate negs off of your credit report is time. the fact that accounts are old or the balance is zero makes no difference. negs (negatives) stay on your reports for 7.5 years from the date of first delinquency. usually only creditors like utilities or medical billers will go for "pay to remove" type agreements. revolving accounts will usually say "no". for these people there is nothing in it for them to remove the information from your credit reports. now, with this, some people say "than i won't pay". problem with that logic is that with enough time passed, and if the debt is high enough, the collection agency will return a lawyer and pursue the debt in court.
References :
Sorry but per the Fair Credit Reporting Act derogatory accounts show for 7-years from the date of first delinquency weather paid or not.

So as long as the information is correct there is no legal way to remove it.

This is why it's called credit history.
References :
Finance Manager for over 9-years / 2008 edition Consumer Action Handbook.

There is a common misconception that one's credit report is a reflection of one's current situation. Not so. Credit report is a record of history - it shows what's happened in the past. If you paid bills late, then those late payments are a matter of record and just becuase you've got caught up does NOT mean past delinquencies go away.

The credit reporting agencies track what's happened for the last seven years. You improve your credit history by paying your bills on time, and continuing to do so.
